Anduril Industries

Anduril Industries is a US defense technology company founded in 2017 by Palmer Luckey with a group of former Palantir executives. It builds autonomous weapons, counter-UAS systems, surveillance platforms, and AI command-and-control software for the US Department of Defense and allied militaries. Its structural difference from the traditional primes is that it develops products on its own balance sheet and sells finished systems, rather than building to a government specification under cost-plus terms.

Key Products

Lattice — the command-and-control layer that fuses sensor feeds into one operational picture, and the spine every other product plugs into.

Fury (YFQ-44A) — an uncrewed combat aircraft developed for the US Air Force Collaborative Combat Aircraft programme, competing against General Atomics.

Roadrunner and Pulsar — counter-UAS. Roadrunner-M is a reusable jet-powered interceptor that launches vertically and returns to base if it does not engage; Pulsar is an electronic warfare system.

Barracuda — a family of low-cost, air-breathing cruise missiles designed for mass production.

EagleEye — an augmented reality soldier headset that overlays Lattice sensor data on the wearer’s view.

Dive-LD and Dive-XL — autonomous undersea vehicles.

Business and Financial Position

Anduril remains private. In May 2026 it raised a $5 billion Series H at a $61 billion valuation, led by Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz, roughly doubling the valuation from its previous round. Reported revenue was $2.2 billion in 2025, up from about $1 billion in 2024, with the company projecting roughly $4.3 billion for 2026.

Arsenal-1, its manufacturing plant in Ohio, is a stated $1 billion investment across roughly five million square feet, with more than 4,000 jobs planned. Fury production began there in March 2026, with Roadrunner, Barracuda, and at least one undisclosed programme also assigned to the site.

Why It Matters

Anduril is the clearest test of whether the commercial product model can work in defense procurement. Self-funding development and selling finished systems lets it move faster than a cost-plus prime, and the Collaborative Combat Aircraft award established it as a systems integrator rather than a sensor vendor.

The open question is manufacturing. Anduril has proven it can win programmes; Arsenal-1 is where it has to prove it can build at rate. A valuation that has roughly doubled each year since 2022 assumes it will, and revenue at $2.2 billion against a $61 billion valuation leaves little room for a production stumble.
