Quantum Systems
Quantum Systems builds hybrid VTOL fixed-wing reconnaissance drones and the software that flies them. It was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Gilching, outside Munich, with production and integration sites in Germany, Ukraine, the United States, Romania, Australia, the United Kingdom and the Baltics. It is run by co-CEOs Florian Seibel and Sven Kruck. Its customers are defense ministries and government agencies, and it is one of the largest suppliers of tactical ISR drones to Ukraine.
Product Line
Vector is the flagship: a tilt-rotor ISR aircraft that takes off vertically and cruises as a fixed wing. A Vector AI variant adds onboard autonomy for navigation and target recognition. Scorpion is the larger tactical platform in the same family.
Twister is a rucksack-portable short-range system — roughly 4 kg at takeoff, about 90 minutes endurance and 15 km range, with an EO/IR gimbal and edge processing. In December 2025 the Bundeswehr selected Twister as the successor to its ALADIN reconnaissance drone under a framework contract for up to 747 systems, with a firm first tranche of 147 for delivery between 2026 and 2028.
Trinity Pro carries the commercial mapping line that earlier profiles listed as Trinity F90+. Reliant is a drone carrier developed for US customers, and MOSAIC is the company’s uncrewed-systems command software. Strila, an interceptor built to shoot down Shahed-type attack drones, is made in Ukraine by WIY Drones, in which Quantum Systems took a stake; Germany funded an order of 15,000 units for Ukraine’s National Guard announced in March 2026.
Financial Position
Quantum Systems is private. It signed a $1.2 billion Series D on 2 July 2026 at a post-money valuation of roughly $8 billion, co-led by Blackstone, Noteus, Airbus and Advent, with Fidelity, Wellington, BOND, A.P. Moller Holding, Balderton and HV Capital participating. That more than doubled the roughly €3 billion valuation set by a €180 million round seven months earlier. The company says it has grown revenue at triple-digit rates and is profitable at double-digit margins; it publishes no audited figures, so those are its own numbers.
Two corrections to the record: this profile previously reported total funding of about €50 million and a €39 million Series B in 2022. Both were wrong by orders of magnitude and are removed.
Why It Matters
Quantum Systems is the clearest case of a European defense startup converting Ukraine field experience into procurement at home. The Twister award matters more than the funding round, because replacing ALADIN puts it inside the Bundeswehr’s permanent inventory rather than its emergency spending.
The risk is the valuation. An $8 billion price on a company whose revenue is unaudited and heavily tied to two demand sources — Ukraine and a German rearmament cycle — leaves no room for either to slow. The company has also begun moving toward armed systems, a market where it has no track record and where its co-CEO’s separate venture, Stark, is already a competitor.
