AC Future
AC Future is an Irvine, California company building AI-enabled mobility and housing products, including expandable mobile homes, trailers, and drivable recreational vehicle platforms. It received a 2026 CES Innovation Award for Vehicle Technology.
Defense Crossover
In April 2026 AC Future announced a strategic partnership with Aero Velocity to jointly develop a Mobile Drone Launch Vehicle platform for U.S. military and public-sector use. The announcement was made in conjunction with TEVCON in San Diego.
The planned platform is described as a ruggedised all-terrain vehicle carrying multi-UAS launch and recovery systems, onboard power generation, secure command-and-control communications, and modular payloads, intended to operate in austere and communications-degraded environments. The two companies said they would pursue Department of Defense and other government funding while evaluating commercial applications.
Why It Matters
AC Future is an unusual entrant to the defense drone market: its core competence is a self-contained, powered, drivable living platform, and a mobile drone launch and recovery vehicle is a close adaptation of that same problem. Whether the partnership converts into a programme of record is unproven, and no government funding has been announced. It is worth watching as an example of commercial mobility engineering being redirected toward uncrewed systems logistics.
