NODA AI is a US defense technology company founded in 2024 by veterans of the Global War on Terrorism, building an AI orchestration platform that coordinates autonomous military systems across air, ground, underwater, and space domains. The platform addresses a fragmentation problem in autonomous systems: drones, ground vehicles, underwater sensors, and satellites have proliferated faster than software capable of coordinating them. NODA AI’s system provides shared tasking, airspace deconfliction, and real-time sensor fusion across heterogeneous autonomous platforms.

Business, Funding and Contracts

NODA AI is private and was founded in 2024, making it one of the newest companies in defense autonomy. It does not disclose revenue.

In February 2026 it raised a $25 million Series A led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with participation from Booz Allen Ventures, Draper Associates, Bloomberg Beta and Alumni Ventures.

Its contract position changed sharply over the following six months. On 22 July 2026 it won a $10 million Department of War contract to develop MAESTRO, software intended to project a commander’s intent across autonomous drones regardless of manufacturer. In August 2026 the Department of War awarded it a $100 million contract to scale autonomous mission command and software-defined effects across the Joint Force.

Why It Matters

Coordinating autonomous systems across domains is one of the more consequential unsolved problems in defense technology. Individual platforms — drones, ground robots, maritime sensors — keep getting more capable, but their collective value is limited by the absence of software that can task them together at speed. That is the gap NODA AI is selling into.

What makes the company unusual is the speed of the jump. Going from a $25 million Series A in February to a $100 million programme award in August, inside two years of founding, is a pace almost no defense software company achieves, and it means the government contract base is now several times the venture funding. The risk sits on the other side of that: a young company with a small track record has taken on a programme whose scope is the Joint Force, and delivery against it has not yet been demonstrated.
